Learning a couture house’s illustration language by hand.
An academic study of Givenchy’s fashion illustration, and of how the house drew elegance.
Hubert de Givenchy founded his house in 1952 and became known for architectural, timeless silhouettes. His hand-drawn illustrations were the first blueprint for some of fashion’s most iconic garments, capturing mood, drape and structure with speed and precision.
To learn from him, I drew twelve illustrations reinterpreting pieces from his archives, and closed the series with an original garment and accessories in his style.
